FP7 NCP Training was held in EU headquarters in Brussels in December, 2006

The 7th Framework Program (FP7) of European Union (EU) will be officially launched at the beginning of 2007. According to the statistics published by European Commission (EC), FP7 is the longest-term and largest scientific research program in the history of EU with a duration of 7 years from 2007 to 2013 and a budget of more than 54.5 billion Euros. Directorate-General for Research (D.G. Research) of EC sponsored the two training sessions for all National Contact Points (NCPs) over the world on Dec.11 to 12 and Dec.19 to 20 respectively in order to support the implementation of FP7.

 

Mr. José Manuel Silva Rodríguez, Director General of D.G. Research attended the opening ceremony and made a welcome speech. 14 officials from D.G. Research and D.G. Enterprise and Industry made presentations on FP7 Rules for Participation, IPR Issues, Guarantee Fund System, FP7 Submission and Evaluation, CORDIS Web Forum, FP7 Inquiry System as well as Guiding Principles for NCPs in FP7, etc.

 

Mr. DU Heting and Mr. WU Dong from China-EU Science and Technology Cooperation Promotion Office (CECO) participated in the 2nd training session on Dec.19 to 20 which enabled them to get an insight into EU Framework Program and is instructive for the Chinese institutions to participate in this program. Mr. DU and Mr. WU met the relative officials in charge of cooperation with China in D.G. Research with the company of Mrs. REN Shiping, the second secretary in Division of Science, Education and Culture of Chinese Delegation to EU and discussed with them about the strengthening of science and technology cooperation between China and EU.
